Volunteerism

For the two school years 2017-2019, I was a volunteer Ethics Bowl coach. I worked with two teams from a Portland all girls high school, meeting with them twice a week to discuss different ethical cases for preparation in the regional Ethics Bowl competition. This was an extremely rewarding experience to work with young women and expanding their critical thinking skills as well as continuing to work on my own.

I took part in weekly online training on organizing and mobilizing skills from the nation's top organizers. I was responsible for a cohort of 25 fellow MoveOn Members and worked under an expert Resistance Facilitator. I was able to put my training into practice by organizing one community event per month in June, July, and August, with the support of my cohort and my Resistance Facilitator (June Community Cookout, July Voter Contact Event, August Recess town halls for Ron Wyden and Jeff Merkley). I became an active member of my community, learned about the democratic and political processes of local government, and

Recently I got to work on an awareness and fundraising project that focused on giving a voice and representation to many Portland women from various eclectic backgrounds. We created a documentary to organize and share these voices; pairing up with a local non profit YOUth. We premiered the film with spoken word, rappers, and singing performances; all while raising money with a raffle consisting of prizes donated by local companies.

After being a camper for many years, I volunteered through high school as junior counselor and then a counselor in training. After being involved with the camp for over a decade I volunteer as a counselor, help out in the kitchen, and with hosting special events like the water carnival and the last campfire talent show.

I have been volunteering with Girls on the Run in various chapters since 2013. I have volunteered as a running buddy, at the glam stations, and as a course monitor. I love empowering young girls to feel fit and strong. I am excited to get involved with the recently made Portland Chapter!
